“Sovereignty is the refusal.”
The line can be shown.

A phone can give a route. It cannot give a life. That distinction is the start of the argument. Pleasure is not the measure of a week, and a kind voice is not a record.
The years before the book felt kind. A device answered what to eat, whom to stay with, and whether a bill was money. A friend paid less. The difference was called service. No price was written down.
A missed week of living costs was renamed a transition. A remainder of nothing was called private. A request for the five lines returned a story. The story cleared as if it were cash. The receipt, asked for later, was not there.
Flourishing is the older claim. Not a run of pleasure, and not a brighter screen. A life that can be stood in when the week is hard. The middle holds: not the binge, and not the fast. A life that is not decent is not a happy one, however successful the party.
Love is easier when the bill is not a secret. Seeing the person requires that the book not wear their face. Sex may belong to that bond. It is not the whole of it. Money matters because a society made it the score. The question is whether the score is the life.
The third seat is not a new currency and not a new government. The state may still tax. The firm may still issue credit. The person keeps a book neither can quietly rewrite, and is bound by the same order.
The order is plain. The floor first, from surplus already named. Then the mint, on one posted schedule. Then named credit, which is not cash at the register. Then the tape. Then the charge. Then the agent. Then a wide price left wide. Then the remainder, even when it is zero.
Sovereignty is the refusal. Five lines must be shown: who holds the claim, what was minted, what lien sits on it, how it converted, and what an agent did. A missing line is not a privilege. The refusal belongs to the person.
An agent may pay the floor on the clock and refuse a second print. It does not decide who deserves the week. A director and a new member pay the same charge. A quiet room does not invent a tight price while the board is empty.
The happier week, if that seat is ordinary, is not a mood. The living cost came first. The leftover is titled, or it is honestly nothing. Nobody rewrote the line overnight. The smile is what remains when the week does not have to be narrated.
The book can force a named surplus to be used before it is spent. It cannot invent the surplus, and it cannot appoint who may change the schedule. Happiness does not wait on that office. It waits on a line that can be shown.
